Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1

Day 1: Day 1: Day 1: Kampala / Entebbe – Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Focus: Scenic countryside drive and evening relaxation.

Morning (7:00 AM):
Early departure from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe. The drive takes you southwest through Uganda's lush rural countryside, passing through the districts of Mpigi, Masaka, and Mbarara. Enjoy views of rolling hills, tea plantations, and traditional homesteads.

Midday (12:30 PM – 1:30 PM):
Stop for lunch en route at a roadside restaurant or packed picnic. Stretch your legs and take in the equatorial climate.

Afternoon (2:00 PM – 5:00 PM):
Continue your journey, descending into the rift valley. As you approach the park, keep your eyes peeled for the first wildlife sightings—baboons, warthogs, and maybe even an elephant in the distance.

Evening (6:00 PM):
Arrive at your lodge or campsite near the park headquarters. Check in, freshen up, and enjoy dinner as the sun sets over the savannah.

Day 2

Day 2: Day 2: Day 2: Morning Game Drive & Afternoon Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise

Focus: Classic savannah wildlife and water-based game viewing.

Early Morning (6:30 AM – 10:30 AM):
Wake up before sunrise for a game drive on the Kasenyi plains. This is the best time to spot predators—lions, leopards, and hyenas—as they hunt in the cool morning hours. Look out for herds of buffalo, elephants, Uganda kobs, and waterbucks. Keep your camera ready for the famous tree-climbing lions that lounge in the branches of fig trees.

Midday (10:30 AM – 12:30 PM):
Return to the lodge for a hearty brunch and some rest. You can swim, read, or simply watch wildlife wander past the lodge grounds.

Afternoon (2:00 PM – 5:00 PM):
Head to the Kazinga Channel for a 2-hour boat cruise. This natural waterway connects Lake Edward and Lake George and is home to one of Africa's highest concentrations of hippos. Along the banks, you'll see elephants showering, crocodiles basking, and a spectacular array of waterbirds—including pelicans, cormorants, and African fish eagles.

Evening (6:30 PM):
Return to the lodge for dinner. Optional night game drive (if available at your accommodation) to spot nocturnal animals like civets, genets, and bushbabies.

Day 3

Day 3: Day 3: Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kyambura Gorge & Crater Lake Visit

Focus: Primate encounters and volcanic landscapes.

Morning (8:00 AM – 12:00 PM):
Drive to Kyambura Gorge—a 100-meter-deep underground forest carved by the Kyambura River. Join a guided tracking expedition to find habituated chimpanzees swinging through the canopy. The gorge is also home to red-tailed monkeys, black-and-white colobus, and colorful forest birds. The walk is steep and challenging but deeply rewarding.

Alternative (if chimp permits are unavailable): Visit the nearby Katwe Salt Works—a traditional salt-mining community on the shores of Lake Edward, where locals have harvested salt for centuries.

Midday (12:30 PM – 2:00 PM):
Return to the lodge for lunch and a short rest.

Afternoon (2:30 PM – 5:30 PM):
Take a scenic drive to the crater lakes area, part of the park's volcanic field. Visit Lake Munyanyange, a shallow soda lake that attracts thousands of flamingos (seasonal). Enjoy panoramic views from the crater rims and learn about the region's explosive geological history.

Evening (6:30 PM):
Return to the lodge. Enjoy a final dinner under the African stars.

Day 4

Day 4: Day 4: Day 4: Morning Game Drive – Return to Kampala / Entebbe

Focus: Final wildlife viewing and journey home.

Early Morning (6:30 AM – 9:30 AM):
One last game drive on a different sector of the park—perhaps the Ishasha sector if you haven't yet spotted the tree-climbing lions, or the northern plains for a final chance at elephants and antelopes.

Midday (10:00 AM – 11:00 AM):
Return to the lodge for a full breakfast and check-out.

Late Morning (11:00 AM – 6:00 PM):
Begin your journey back to Kampala or Entebbe. Stop for lunch en route. Enjoy the changing landscapes as you climb back out of the rift valley.

Evening (6:00 PM – 7:00 PM):
Arrive at your drop-off point—your hotel, the airport, or any agreed location in Kampala/Entebbe. End of tour.
